Summary
Stemming from the discussion around SUMR token tranferability I propose formation of a time-bound, community-led working group tasked with defining a clear and practical roadmap for enabling SUMR token transfers.
The SUMR token is a powerful tool for aligning growth, but to unlock its potential, we need a pragmatic and decisive plan.
The goal is to deliver a scroped, milestone-driven readiness plan, including the minimum criteria, technical and tokenomic prerequisites, and ecosystem conditions for successful activation of SUMR transferability in a responsible yet time efficient way.
This working group will operate for 4 weeks, report weekly progress, and deliver a final “SUMR Transfer Readiness Checklist” alongside any relevant governance proposals.
Motivation
There seems to be a broader alignment across the community that enabling SUMR transferability is a key unlock for protocol and ecosystem growth.
The recent RFC discussion shows clear support for:
- Maintaining protocol momentum
- Bringing more innovative products (Tokenizing Vaults)
- Avoiding overly bureaucratic and slow processes
- Establishing a clear, credible parthway to transferability
- Updating Governance Staking Module (SUMR Token Upgrade)
Rather than continue fragmented debate, the Lazy Summer DAO would benefit from a dedicated, focus group that will centralize discussion, model implications, and deliver a roadmap for activation.
Proposal
Create a SUMR Tranfer Readiness Working Group, empowered to:
- Define the readiness checklist and minimum gating criteria for enabling SUMR transfers (e.g.: min. TVL, protocol treassury, etc.)
- Model the tokenomic implications, including any updates to staking (if relevant), liquidity bootstrapping and incentives, or emissions
- Identify any required changes to protocol mechanics, treasury planning, or new modules
- Draft and deliver one or more SIPs that can be implemented or amended by the community
The working group will run from Week 0 to Week 4, posting weekly updates and final deliverables by end of Week 4.
Deliverables
By the end of the 4-week period, the working group will deliver:
| Deliverables | Description |
|---|---|
| Readiness Checklist | Objective criteria for SUMR transfers (tech, liquidity, governance) |
| Activation Plan | Timeline & sequence of actions to activate SUMR safely |
| SIP Drafts | Proposals to implement checlist items (e.g.: emission routing, updated staking if relevant, etc.) |
| Comms Summary | Community messaging narrative and guidance for rollout |
Timeline
| Week | Milestone |
|---|---|
| Week 0 | Confirm members & kickoff |
| Week 1 | Publish charter + draft checklist |
| Week 2-3 | Iterate checklist, staging plan, SIPs |
| Week 4 | Publish final SUP drafts & checklist to forum |
Participants
Here I would propose a mix of summerfi, delegates, community, and external contributors:
| Contributor | Role | Category |

*Subject to change depending on contributor availability and community consensus
Tagging @vumichien, @MasterMojo, @crunchy_vertex for potential nominations.
Operating Framework
Coordination
Async via dedicated group chat (Signal/Discord) + weekly summary posts on the forum
Transparency
Weekly public updates + access to all deliverables and drafts
Accountability
If deliverables are not progressing on schedule, governance can request reconstitution or termination
Sunset Clause
Working group automatically disbands after Week 4 deliverables unless extended by governance vote
Compensation
Up to 10,000 SUMR per confirmed community/external contributor (funded from Lazy Summer DAO treasury), depending on participation level, capped at 12 contributors total (120,000 SUMR)
Next Steps
- Collect community feedback on this post and finalize the working group charter
- Confirm participants via consensus or nominations
- Kick off working group within 7 days (by 14/07/2025)
- Deliver readiness plan and SIPs by end of 4-week term
Momentum is essential, but transferability must be approached with intention and credibility. With this proposal we can design a lean, outcome-driven, and time-sensitive process to make a real progress without overengineering or premature activation.
I am calling all @Recognized_Delegates to share your thoughts, availability and input.
