Hey @Recognized_Delegates and Lazy Summer DAO community!
As part of ongoing improvements to governance tooling and decision-making, I have set up Snapshot as a tool for offchain voting.
Snapshot can be used for offchain, non-executable votes that help the DAO coordinate, converge, and make better-informed decisions before proposals move onchain.
Tally/Onchain voting:
- Executable
- Direct mandate, protocol or treasury action
- Always formal YES / NO / ABSTAIN SIP votes
Offchain/Snapshot voting
- Non-executable
- No direct protocol changes
- Used for temperature checks, signal gathering, and multi-option decisions
- Helps shape how a SIP is written before it goes to a final onchain vote
Snapshot does not replace SIPs or onchain governance; it complements them.
Snapshot may be used for:
- Gauging delegate sentiment before promoting an RFC to SIP
- Choosing between multiple design options (e.g. parameters, thresholds, structures)
- Narrowing scope or direction of upcoming proposals
- Early alignment on contentious or high-impact decisions
Once direction is clear, the final outcome have to still be encoded in a formal SIP and voted onchain.
The Snapshot space is drafted and in need of being finalized:
- Admins needs to be created and authors enabled
- ENS ownership for lazysummerdao.eth will be transferred to the DAO treasury multisig
- Initial configuration will mirror existing governance standards (1d delay & 3d voting period) and delegation (stSUMR=VotingPower)
This should reduce governance friction, improve proposal quality, and help delegates focus on decisions, not just execution.
As always, feedback is welcome.
