Hey all, over the past several months we have hosted ~13 Community Calls, covering governance updates, vault strategy discussions, ecosystem developments, and occasional protocol deep dives.
These calls have been useful for keeping delegates, contributors, and the broader community aligned as the DAO moved from pre-launch β token launch β live governance operations.
Now that Lazy Summer governance is operating at a more mature stage, it feels like a good time to revisit the cadence and structure of our calls going forward.
This post is intended as an exploratory discussion on how we want to structure community calls, governance touchpoints, and broader ecosystem conversations.
1. Community Call Cadence
So far, community calls have generally been held weekly. While this cadence worked well during earlier phases of rapid development and launch activity, governance activity has now shifted toward a more steady operational rhythm.
One idea proposed by @Sixty would be to move to bi-weekly community calls instead. Here the main aim would be better attendance consistency.
These calls would remain focused on:
- Governance updates/recaps
- Proposal discussions (RFCs that are pre-SIP promotion)
- DAO initiatives
- Protocol developments
- Ecosystem updates
They would effectively function as the primary open governance touchpoint for the DAO.
2. Separating Community Calls from Working Group Calls
Another thing worth clarifying is the difference between community calls and working group coordination. Community calls should remain open and high-level, focusing on transparency, discussion, and updates.
Working groups on the other hand often require:
- more focused coordination and strategy
- operational discussions
- contributor-level planning
Those conversations are often better handled in smaller working sessions, rather than the broader community call. Separating the two should make both formats more effective.
3. Introducing Lazy Summer X / Twitter Spaces
Another idea worth exploring imo is Lazy Summer Twitter/X Spaces.
These would be less governance-focused and more ecosystem / DeFi conversation oriented.
Potential themes could include:
- DeFi yield strategies
- Lending markets and liquidity dynamics
- Institutional DeFi adoption
- DeFi integrations and wallet UX
- Stablecoin infrastructure
- Onchain leverage
- DAO governance design
- Privacy and DeFi
- Neobanks and crypto-native finance
These conversations could also serve as a platform for protocol announcements, integrations, and partnerships, while still keeping them educational and discussion-driven.
3.1 Guest Outreach
If we do explore Twitter Spaces, it would be great to invite guests from across the ecosystem, such as:
- protocol founders
- risk providers
- vault strategy teams
- DAO operators
- wallet builders
- institutional DeFi participants
This could help position Lazy Summer Protocol as a hub for thoughtful conversations around DeFi capital efficiency and yield infrastructure.
4. Timing Considerations
One thing we should also revisit is call timing. I want to make sure calls are reasonably accessible for:
- European contributors
- US-based delegates
- broader global community participants
If we move to a bi-weekly cadence of Community / Governance calls, we should ensure that the timing continues to support broad participation across time zones. I would love to see some preferences here from @Recognized_Delegates expressed in the polls below!
5. Possible Structure Going Forward
Community Calls (bi-weekly):
- Governance updates
- Proposal discussions
- DAO initiatives
- Open Q&A
Working Group Calls (when needed):
- Smaller coordination sessions
- Contributor-level discussions
- Scheduled independently
Periodic Twitter/X Spaces (once a month):
- Ecosystem conversations
- Guest speakers
- Integrations / partnerships
- broader DeFi topics
6. Open Questions for the Community
6.1 Community calls preference:
- Weekly
- Bi-weekly
6.2 What times tend to work best for you?
- UTC / UTC+1
- UTC-4 / UTC -8
- UTC+5 / UTC +9
6.3 Would you participate in Lazy Summer Twitter Spaces?
- Yes
- Maybe
- No

The goal with this post is to make sure our communication cadence scales alongside the DAO, while remaining useful for both delegates and the broader community. Looking forward to hearing thoughts from delegates and contributors.
