Creating a Lazy Summer DAO Bounty Category on the Forum

Hey everyone,

As Lazy Summer DAO continues to mature, it feels like the right time to start exploring DAO-driven development/research bounties focused on small (to begin with), clearly scoped projects that the community can fund, track, and deliver in a transparent and decentralized way.

Why a Bounty Category?

Right now, most technical work happens through Labs Co. or coordinated contributor teams. That’s efficient for summer.fi frontend, and core protocol maintenance. This leaves room for the community to self-organize around smaller or complementary initiatives - growing a builder side of the community that can evolve into other core protocol developments. Furthermore, this can lead to sponsoring hackathons and similar dev focused initiatives.

A dedicated “Bounties” category/subcategory could serve as the coordination hub for:

  • Posting development or research tasks proposed by DAO members.
  • Allowing contributors to express interest, quote effort, and deliver.
  • Enabling onchain bounty funding (in SUMR or stablecoins) upon completion.
  • Increasing contributor surface area beyond the summer.fi (frontend-focused) team.

This would align well with decentralization efforts and give contributors a clear way to engage beyond governance and strategy.

I am writing this topic to start exploring and gauging the interest of the community.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Makes sense and support the initiative.

I think this makes a lot of sense. One thing to take care of is making sure the RFPs are well structured and clear so the best apply while the rest self-selects out.
