### 1. Overview: This SIP proposes to the Summer community to enable the transferability of the SUMR token, to allow SUMR to begin trading and find it’s natural market price. The SUMR Token is launching officially on Aerodrome and through their Ignition program, starting at 00:00 UTC on the 22nd January 2026. This SIP proposes to allow transferability just prior (from 23:58 UTC on 21st January) so it can start trading immediately. The timing will be controlled by a newly deployed `timeguard` contract, which will restrict execution of the proposal until after 23:58 UTC. This SIP just proposes enabling on Base. If passed, it should also act as instruction for the Lazy Summer Foundation to enable transfers on the spoke chains of the protocol, including Arbitrum, Ethereum, Sonic and HyperEVM. * * * ### 2. Motivation: Since the deployment of the Lazy Summer Protocol, and the launch of the Lazy Summer DAO, the SUMR token has been a central part of it, but to-date, has not been transferrable, and as such, tradable. Conversations re. transferability started back in June 2025, with [When, and under what circumstances should SUMR transfers be enabled](https://forum.summer.fi/t/when-and-under-what-circumstances-should-sumr-transfers-be-enabled/242). From this, the discussions concluded that a new staking module was needed to create a more robust tokenomics model for the SUMR token. This led to the new SUMR Staking module ([Introducing SUMR Staking V2: All you need to know about DeFi’s most productive asset](https://blog.summer.fi/introducing-sumr-staking-v2-all-you-need-to-know-about-defis-most-productive-asset/)) launching in November 2025, setting SUMR up to be ready to be transferable and tradable. Now, as we enter January and a new year, the SUMR token is ready to go fully live and launch through Aerodrome Ignition. Aerodromes Ignition program is a new, exclusive, invite only program which helps launch tokens into large amounts of liquidity into a highly active community. The date offered to the Summer DAO was 22nd January 2026 - and this leads to the dates described above to launch the transferrable SUMR token. Once enabled, and trading SUMR will have a live market price, and all reward APY’s will start to use the market price. * * * ### 3. Specification: TBC shortly * * * ### 4. Risk Assessment: There are no technical risks expected to be introduced as there are no code changes or new code being introduced given its a flag that has been heavily tested, and some SUMR tokens were already whitelisted to allow for claiming through MERKL for example. * * * ### 5. Voting: A **YES** vote will allow execution and the enabling of transferability at any time after 23:58 UTC on 21st January. After execution, SUMR will become fully transferrable on Base and the foundation will be instructed to enable Ethereum, Arbitrum, Sonic and HyperEVM. WOOP, WOOP! This is such a big milestone for the Lazy Summer Protocol, the DAO and the token. The timing around Aerodrome Ignition is well thought through, and the groundwork via Staking V2 makes this a responsible next step. Lets enable the SUMR transferability! ---

The Aerodrome Ignition has been executed ([[SIP5.15] Fund Aerodrome Ignition Incentives](https://forum.summer.fi/t/sip5-15-fund-aerodrome-ignition-incentives/605)), so now it will be up to the Foundation to bring that process over the finish line. This will incentives the LPs on the Aerodrome to seed the initial liquidity. We have cast our vote in favor of this SIP. This is a big step! while transferability is often treated as the “starting line” for many protocols, the SummerFi approach has been refreshingly measured. By waiting until **after** Staking V2 was live and battle-tested it was ensured that the SUMR token has immediate utility and a sink mechanism the moment price discovery begins. Let’s get SUMR trading!!! ---
